The first CCS2 to CHAdeMO adapter is out now in Europe!
Share
A lot of people thought such a conversion was impossible. For over 10 years CHAdeMO drivers had no other fast charging option. There are almost no new CHAdeMO stations and drivers have to entirely rely on the old infrastructure. Their maintenance is also neglected which often leads to unsuccessful charging attempts. Charging companies in Europe have now entirely switched their focus on installing faster CCS2 stations as the majority of the EV owners require these. This is the reason why the CCS2 to CHAdemo adapter was so highly anticipated.
The CCS vs CHAdeMO comparison is no longer relevant as you have access to both worlds. This CCS to CHAdeMO adapter for Nissan Leaf is a game changer for owners who would like to continue using their vehicles on longer trips without worrying about the few CHAdeMO stations. Since now all CHAdemo cars will be able to charge at the CCS2 charging station via this adapter.
You can order your adapter now with free shipping in the EU!
All orders are shipped from the EU, there is no import tax for EU customers. The adapter comes with a 2-year warranty (1 year for companies), lifetime software support, and a 14-day return period. EU customers will receive their orders within 7 days of shipment.
The CCS1 to CHAdeMO adapter is also available.
The CCS to CHAdeMO adapter has a built-in 18650 rechargeable battery which powers up the “computer” inside. You need to charge the battery only the first time, after that it will be automatically charged. You will also receive a USB flash drive for updates and a USB cable to upload future firmware updates/ extract log files.
Another great benefit of the adapter is the potential increase in charging power. The adapter has a limit of 200A while the majority of CHAdeMO stations are rated at 125A (50 kW). This feature unlocks the true capabilities of the Nissan Leaf E+ 62 kWh which can charge with up to 80 kW. Other vehicles that can take advantage are the Porsche Taycan, BMW iX, Audi e-Tron, Mercedes EQ, and other high-end cars intended for the Japanese market.
Some people might ask what is the difference between CCS and CHAdeMO. The major difference is that CCS2 is the official charging standard in Europe and all new EVs intended for the European market will come with a CCS2 port from the factory. At the same time, CHAdeMO is the charging standard in Japan. Directive 2014/94/EU required that all DC chargers in the EU be equipped with the CCS connector by November 18, 2017. This did not wipe out the CHAdeMO plug completely but the charging operators slowly began to phase it out. Now in 2024 operators are dismantling working CHAdeMO chargers and replacing them with CCS.
The adapter works with the following vehicles:
